A retirement party is a speech event with a party attached. People have come to say something to someone, and most of the room will not be able to hear it unless somebody plans for that.
Speeches are the main event
There will be more speakers than anyone admits at the planning stage, several will be nervous, and at least one will speak too quietly. We provide handheld wireless microphones rather than a fixed lectern mic so people can speak from where they are comfortable, set levels for soft voices, and give the MC a running order so the segment does not sprawl past the point where the room is still listening.
The tribute video
Almost every retirement party has one, usually assembled by a colleague the week before and never tested on a real system. Send it to us in advance. We will check it plays, that the audio level matches the room, and that it is on a screen everyone can actually see.

Many of these happen in an office, a cafeteria or a conference room rather than a venue. Those rooms are usually acoustically hard and unflatteringly lit. Uplighting and a properly placed system change both, and we can work within building rules on load-in times, lifts and security sign-in.
