December is the most compressed month in this business. The first two weekends book out months ahead, and the companies that leave it until November end up on a Tuesday in a room they did not want. If you are reading this before October, you are early enough.
Book the date before you pick the theme
Venue and production availability decide more about a December party than any other factor. Lock the date first. Everything else — the theme, the menu, whether there are awards — can be built afterwards, and we can work to a theme decided later.
Weeknights work better than people expect
A Tuesday or Wednesday in December is easier to staff, easier to book and often gets better attendance from employees than a Saturday competing with family plans. It is also the part of the calendar where the best rooms are still available in late autumn.
