A grand opening is a short event with a lot riding on it. There is a photograph that has to happen, a few people who have to be heard, and a first impression of the business being formed by everyone standing on the pavement.
The ribbon shot is the deliverable
Everything else supports the moment the scissors close. We keep the sound system, cable and stands out of the camera line, light the ribbon area so faces are not in shadow under a harsh Miami midday sun or a dark awning, and cue music to hit as the ribbon drops. Your photographer should not have to work around us.
Short call, full production
Most openings run two to four hours, which makes them efficient work for a crew and easy to fit around a weekend booking. That short window still needs a proper setup: speeches usually involve a chamber of commerce representative, an elected official or a landlord, and those are exactly the people who must be audible.
